Nkosana Donald Moyo
Nkosana Moyo, an Eisenhower Fellow and a WEF Global Leader of Tomorrow alumnus, holds a PhD in Physics from Imperial College, University of London and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management, UK. He was until August 2011, the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the African Development Bank. Before joining the AfDB, Dr Moyo worked at Actis Capital LLP as Managing Partner for the Africa Business and also served at the World Bank’s IFC as an Associate Director. In his native country Zimbabwe, Nkosana served as Minister of Industry & International Trade. In his long association with the World Economic Forum, Nkosana has served as a Co-Chair of the Regional Agenda Council on the Future of Africa, Chair of the GAC on Population Growth, member of the GAC on Population Divident and Deputy Chair of the Meta-Council on Inclusive Growth.
He has previously served on the following boards as Non Executive Directr (NED), Old Mutual PLC, Impala Platinum, Nisela Capital, The Africa Leadership Institute, Chair of Banque Commercial Du Rwanda, Chair of DFCU Bank in Uganda, Diamond Bank in Nigeria, UAC in Nigeria, South African Airways and Kumba Iron Ore both in South Africa, Trianlge Sugar and Border Timbers both in Zimbabwe and the Investment Climate Facility (ICF) for Africa. In the Tertiary Education sector, Dr Moyo has served as an Advisory Board Member of the London Business School as well as the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He is a patron of the NEPAD Business Foundation and the current CEO of the Mandela Institute for Development Studies, MINDS, which he founded.
In 2018 Dr Moyo through his hat into the ring to contest for the Presidency of his native country Zimbabwe. This was based on his conviction that he could do a better job of running the country and that his experience in both the corporate and DFI worlds was what the country needed at this point on its very troubled journey.
